In this book, we bring together research articles by active practitioners reporting recent advances in the field of knowledge discovery, where the information is mined from complex data, such as unstructured text from the world-wide web, databases naturally represented as graphs and trees, geoscientific data from satellites and visual images, multimedia data and bioinformatic data. Characteristics of the methods and algorithms reported here include the use of domain-specific knowledge for reducing the search space, dealing with uncertainty, imprecision and concept drift, efficient linear and/or sub-linear scalability, incremental approaches to knowledge discovery, and increased level and intelligence of interactivity with human experts and decision makers. The techniques can be sequential, parallel or stream-based in nature.

Springer, 2010. — 622 p. The field of graph mining has seen a rapid explosion in recent years because of new applications in computational biology, software bug localization, and social and communication networking. This book is designed for studying various applications in the context of managing and mining graphs. Graph mining has been studied by the theoretical community...
Springer, 2010. — 394 p. — (Texts in Computer Science). — ISBN 978-1-84882-259-7. The main motivation to write this book came from all our problems to fin suitable material for a textbook that would really help us to teach the practical aspects of data analysis together with the needed theoretical underpinnings. Many books out there tackle either one or the other of these...
Rijeka: InTech, 2011. — 596 p. — ISBN 978-953-307-547-1. Data mining, a branch of computer science and artificial intelligence, is the process of extracting patterns from data. Data mining is seen as an increasingly important tool to transform a huge amount of data into a knowledge form giving an informational advantage. Reflecting this conceptualization, people consider data...

Cambridge University Press, 2004. — 478 p. Pattern Analysis is the process of finding general relations in a set of data, and forms the core of many disciplines, from neural networks to so-called syntactical pattern recognition, from statistical pattern recognition to machine learning and data mining. Applications of pattern analysis range from bioinformatics to document...
