This book presents a tool to be used in this effort—the Driving Point Impedance/Signal Flow Graph method (DPI/SFG). This tool, as with all tools, is sharpened with
use, and its application becomes secondary allowing the circuit to maintain central focus. With this tool, a circuit is mapped onto a flow graph, a pictorial schematic showing circuit couplings and circuit topology. Loops show feedback, and summers show where and how signals combine. The mapping process with use will not necessitate the intermediate step of drawing the small signal equivalent circuit; and the transfer functions obtained will be in factored form associating pole-zero
information with particular nodes and elements–Low Entropy solutions. Such results will aid in the design process and in the development of experience quickly and effectively.
