In Light and Shade, the second album for piano solo, Hans-Günter Heumann takes a look at the bright and dark sides of emotions. Twelve very emotional piano pieces reflect the whole range from bright to dark, light and shadow. The compositions take the listeners to the land of minimal music: repetitive structures, i.e. a sequence of melodic, rhythmic and harmonic patterns, create a meditative atmosphere. Over a specific period, just a few notes are added so that the patterns vary in a hardly noticeable way. In addition, the compositions combine percussive elements and structures of musical tapestry with beautiful melodies.
