Chen G. (ed.) Distributed Parameter Control Systems: New Trends and Applications
Marcel Dekker, 1990. — 523 p.
Control of distributed parameter systems is a highly active and rapidly growing area in applied mathematics and engineering. In the past two decades, this area has been greatly stimulated by challenges and opportunities posed by modern science and engineering. Its growth is further enhanced by revolutionary advances in instrumentation and computer technology and new progress in related areas of mathematics. To feature the current state of the art as well as to analyze and gain new insights into the future directions of distributed parameter control systems, a
workshop entitled "New Trends and Applications of Distributed Parameter Control Systems" was conducted during the period 4 August to 11 August 1989 by the Center for Control Sciences and Dynamical Systems (CSDS) at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
This Workshop, also commemorating the 25th anniversary of CSDS, was held at the NSF Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications (IMA) under the auspices of the National Science Foundation, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Honeywell, Inc., and the 3M Company. The present volume is an outgrowth of the Workshop.
