The book is based on some lectures I delivered for a number of years at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest and covers the curriculum on differential calculus for the students of the first year of this faculty.The material follows the textbook [34]. Each chapter contains a brief review of the corresponding theoretical results, worked out examples and proposed problems. Since the ”learning-by-doing” method is a successful one, the student is encouraged to solve as many exercises as possible. The basic prerequisites for studying differential calculus using this book are undergraduate courses in linear algebra and one-variable calculus.
