The most successful practitioners of the medium have progressed from the arrangement of the simplest light bulbs and wires to the manipulation of extremely sophisticated electronic components. Their advances have been celebrated in many exhibitions and publications.Indeed, 'light art' has been the subject of lengthy and comprehensive review in both the critical and popular press, an attention prompted by an ever more adventurous society. Since publicity has done as much to obscure as to clarify, it is the intention of this exhibition to examine the new medium and its relation to the traditional formats of object and image.
