Vraciu Ariton. Limba daco-geţilor
Timişoara, Republica Socialistă România: Facla, 1980. — 107 p.
Врачу Аритон. Язык гето-даков (на рум. яз.)
The four chapters in this book deal with, in the light of ancient, new and most recent evidence from general linguistics, comparative IE linguistics and the history of the Romanian language, with the following topics:
the state-of-the art in the matter of the language of Dacian-Getae and the prospects of research in this field;
the general feature of the language of Dacian-Getae;
the place of the language of Dacian-Getae within the IE group;
the Dacian-Getae elements in the structure of Romanian.
This book also examines: 1. the proper names of the Daco-Getae and 2. the question of the existance of a writing system with the Dacian-Getae. This book represents an important contribution to the proto-history of the Romanian language and people, and also to IE dialectology. On the occasion of the second International Congress of Thracology (Bucharest, 4 -10 September 1976) specialists discussed the main problems regarding the languages spoken in the Balkan region ; the main issues of historical and achaeological findings, linguistics and ethnography, folklore and anthropologie ; the origin and expansion of the Thracians ; the relationship between Thracian and Illyrian ; the links between the Thracians and the Mediterranean world ; the Thracian input into the protohistory of SE Europe ; the unity and expansion ot the Getae – Dacians and their role in the Thracian world ; the process of Romanization in the Carpathians and the Balkans ; the Thracian , Getae and Dacian heritage in the Carpathians and in the Danube area in the 4th and 5th cc. AD ; the Dacian and Roman unity and the Thracian substratum ; the problem of the Thracian language etc.
This book gives some relevant answers to questions about the lingusitic aspects of Thracian studies from the perspective of the latest research in the field. Despite the fact that the sources and evidence for the language of the Daco-Getae are scarce, more exact methods and procedures are available today, which can deliniate the nature of this IE idiom. This has been one of the most important objectives of this monograph.
