This booklet described the roles turtles in culture ancient Egypt, like food, like God Re, e.t.c. Like most of the fauna of ancient Egypt, the threeclawed water turtle Trinyx triungu's is seldom encountered in the lower reaches of the Nile today, having retreated southward to the less populated area of Nubia and the Sudan. The plates of the salt-water turtle were utilized the manufacture of varios implements and ornaments, particularly knife handles and bracelets.
